Under the Tribal Development Plan of AAU, SPREAD-NE is creating
two model villages viz, Mairakuchi and Rupnagar at Soanapur in the
District of Kamrup (Metro) where 50 (fifty) tribal women were given
two piglets each for breeding purpose. Total numbers of 100 piglets
with feeds were supported to them. The villages are planed to be a
homestead garden development programme for nutrition security
with backyard piggery and poultry production. Forty women
beneficiaries also got 320 local country chicken for backyard poultry.
Three training programmes on piggery breeding and backyard
poultry with the help of College of Veterinary Science, AAU at the
SPREAD-NE Firm Learning Centre.
